|Billing: Accounts are billed monthly, due and payable on the date indicated on the bill. If no due date is shown on the bill then the amount will be paid prior to the first business day following twenty days after billing. Any bill not paid when due will be assessed a delinquency fee of 10% of the billing amount. A bill delinquent more than twenty days will cause a disconnection procedure to begin in compliance with the rules and regulations of the District. A copy of the rules and regulations are available upon request at the District's office. If a bill remains delinquent more than ten (10) days following its due date, a notice of intent to disconnect the user from the District will be sent by the United States Postal Service First Class Mail. Service from the District shall be disconnected fifteen (15) days following the date of mailing the notice. All charges must be paid in full prior to having service reconnected. Please make the check payable to the M.P.W.D PO Box 8125 Granite City IL 62040. Mailed payments will not be considered paid until payment is received here at the District office. The District can neither be responsible for nor make any allowance for payments delayed in the mail. There is a night depository located next to the front door at the District office.|
Basic Rules: No service taps or service connection will be allowed to the District's system without an application to the District's and approval of such actions by the District Manager or representative. Meter wells are to be opened by Water District personnel only. Any damage caused by unauthorized opening of meter wells will be billed to the user. Meter well's must be accessible at all times and not covered by any obstruction. Only one household is to be connected to each meter. All home water systems such as wells must be disconnected from pipes connected to the District's distribution system. This is to help protect the District distribution system from contamination of an outside source. Customers must notify the Water District when the service is to be discontinued.
